The Miracle Worker

January 22 - February 7. The Footlight Players, 20 Queen St., Charleston, SC.843-722-4487. Winner of the 1960 Tony Award for Best Play, The Miracle Worker explores the true story of Annie Sullivan and Helen Keller, the essence of dignity, hope, possibilities, and what people can reach for and accomplish under the most adverse of conditions. The play will be preformed from January 22, 2010 through February 7, 2010. Ticket prices are as follows: $25 adult, $22 senior, $15 student. This play is recommended for anyone 6 or older. (CHS)

Southeastern Wildlife Exposition

February 12 - 14. 211 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC. Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) is the largest wildlife art and nature event in the nation, one that you have to experience first hand to understand and truly appreciate. The 28th Annual SEWE will be held February 12, 2010 through February 14, 2010. SEWE attracts 35,000+ attendees to beautiful Charleston, SC, to enjoy world-class original art, diverse exhibits, interesting presentations and lectures, not to mention Southern hospitality and lots of fun! The Charleston Blues Festival

There will be wonderful music from Shemekia Copeland, Zac Harmon and "The Prince of Beale Street" Billy Gibson. The show starts at 8:00pm. The tickets go on sale October 1, 2009 at $35. (CHS)

The Altruists by Nicky Silver

February 18 - 27 Footlight Players, 20 Queen St., Charleston, SC. 843-722-4487. The Altruists by Nicky Silver is an outrageous satire and dark comedy of the trials and troubles of the average American protester. Featuring a gallery of hypocrites, the characters provide an entertaining outlet, while making a statement about the betrayal of one’s ideals and rebelling without a cause. There will be multiple showings going on from February 18 – 27, 2010. This play is recommended for anyone 18 years or older. All tickets are $10 on Thursday and $15 on Friday & Saturday. (CHS)

Camellia Walks - Middleton Place

February 4 - March 27 (Every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday) Special guided tours focus on camellias throughout the original gardens as well as the "new" camellia garden of the 1950s. Middleton Place has hundreds of varieties, including the 1786 Reine des Fleurs, one of the first camellias planted in America. Tours begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden Market & Nursery and last approximately 1½ hours. Reservations are required. Regular admission. Call 843-556-6020. (CHS)
